Romney - Mrs Ruth Kirkpatrick Higman, 81, R#1, Romney, died at 11;05 pm Wednesday in St Elizabeth Hospital. She had been hospitalized since May 25 after an extended illness. Born in Wea Township, she was a lifelong resident of Tippecanoe County and had lived at Romney the past 43 years. She attended Purdue University and the University of Chicago and was a teacher many years ago at Wea High School. In 1923 she was married in Wea Township to I Newton Higman. He farmed in Tippecanoe County until his death in 1964. Mrs Higman was a member of Romney Presbyterian Church, was past matron of Romney Order of Eastern Star 460 and past president of Romney Country Club. Surviving are tow sons, Robert Higman of Lafayette and N Kirk Higman of Prattville, Alabama; two daughters; Mrs Jack (Lilly) DeVault, R#1, Romney, and Mrs Paul (Marilyn) Vehslage of Bloomington; and a brother, Porter Kirkpatrick of Lafayette.
