A memorial service will be 11:30 AM Friday, December 2, 2011 at Sarasota National Cemetery.

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. -- CSM Roy A. Taylor, age 81, Army retired, passed away at his home on Treasure Island, Fla., on November 26, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 15, 1930 to Giles and Lula Hedrick Taylor at Littlesburg, Bluefield, W. Va. He loved talking about the experiences he had while serving 22 years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Japan, Germany, England, Hawaii, The Pentagon in Washington, and Vietnam, including three years from 1960 to 1963 as a recruiter in Bluefield. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edger, Bennett, Shelton, Woodrow, and Calvin; sisters, Grace and Edna.
(Roy is survived by his wife, a daughter, three grandsons, two brothers, two sisters, and nieces and nephews).

Military services will be conducted at Sarasota, Fla. on Friday, December 2, 2011.
