BLUEFIELD — Woodrow Wilson Taylor, age 93, of Route 1 Box 443 (Littlesburg Road), Bluefield, W.Va., died on Friday, March 7, 2008 in a Bluefield hospital.

Born on March 12, 1914 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Giles and Lula Hedrick Taylor. He had been a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a member of the Brushfork Baptist Church. He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Associated Coal in Herndon with 37 years and was a 72-year member of the UMWA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Iva F. Taylor Taylor; a son Dennis W. Taylor; and a daughter, Ramona S. Ball.

Survivors include: Two daughters: Geraldine Hall of Bluefield, Gayle Barrett and husband Harold of Falls Mills, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren; three brothers: William (Bill) Taylor of Bluefield, Ray Taylor and wife Lake of Kegley, Roy Taylor and wife Jean of Treasure Island, Fla.; two sisters: Nora McKinley of Kentucky and Edith Cochran of Cheyenne, Wyo.; special sister in law: Lucille Taylor of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Danny Gunnoe and the Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Sunday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Taylor family.
