Born in New Vienna. Married Elizabeth Goerdt, daughter of Theodore & Barbara Huttener Goerdt. The couple farmed at the Dixon Settlement, the Griffith Homestead. They had eight children: Anna (Mrs, James Livingston) of Harpers Ferry; Anthony of Wilkinson, MN; Theodore died at age 25; Bernard of Freeburg, MN; Joseph of Lansing; John died at age 11; Aloysius of Vancouver, WA; George of Polo, SD; William married Anna Westhoff.

William married Anna Westhoff, born in Sustrum, Kiveis Aschendorf Hanover, Germany, daughter of Wm. Westhoff who came to America in 1886.
Children: William J.; Laura & Frank who died young; Louise (Mrs. Frank Louis Koelker). William died a month before his last child, Louise, was born.
Anna then married Henry Welchert of New Vienna after William's death.
