Mr. McCalmont was the eldest of the family of the late Judge John S. and Elizabeth S. McCalmont. He resided here with his parents until the family removed to Washington in 1885, his father having been appointed Commissioner of Customs by President Cleveland. Mr. McCalmont was a bachelor. In his active manhood he was an expert in oil production and manufactures. He retired from business about eighteen years ago, invalided following an attack of paralysis. He had been a dweller in Washington for about 10 years.
