Funeral services are being held this afternoon from the Maxwell funeral home, and the St. John’s Lutheran church, burial to take place in the Arlington cemetery.
Julius Pederson was born in Clay County, Iowa, November 16, 1874 and died July 6, 1936 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Mr. Pederson came to South Dakota at the age of three months with he parents who homesteaded near Trent, where he grew to young manhood.
On October 16, 1902, Mr. Pederson was united in marriage with Carolina Knudson at Arlington. They lived for a short time at Hetland, then Lilly and Lake Preston where he was in the Creamery business. He then moved to Hetland where he was in the implement business for 25 years. In 1932, he with his family moved to Arlington where he was engaged in well-drilling.
Mr. Pederson was taken sick last summer when he suffered a sun stroke while supervising his threshing run. He had gradually gotten worse until the past month he had to remain in bed most of the time, part of each day was spent in sitting in his rocking chair. On June 18, 1936, he suffered a sinking spell, from then on he seemed to be recovering. His passing came as a shock to his family as he had been very bright during the forenoon, telling his family he would soon be well, but at 1:30 life departed suddenly.
Mr. Pederson was a man of high ideals and of a very kindly disposition. He was a friend of both young and old.
