Alvenia was born to Charles and Essie (Grooms) Lamb in Moline, Kansas. Her family migrated to Oklahoma where she married her first husband James Oscar Brake. Brake died during his service in WWI. She later married Christopher Bohannon a Rodeo clown, in 1919. They settled in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
