Mr. Herbert J. Wright, well known contractor, died at his home here about nine o'clock Monday evening, after a decline in health lasting several months. Sixty years of age, and a native of New Bedford, Mass., he came to Montgomery county about fifty years ago.

He began the carpenter's trade as a boy, and was master of the trade. Doubtless he erected more dwellings and public buildings in this section of the state than any other man.

He was married first to Miss Agnes Adams, member of one of the country's oldest families. Following her death several years ago, he married Miss Blount of Vidalia. He is survived by his wife and one son, C.H. Wright, of this place.

Deceased, in addition to his trade, farmed on an extensive scale of many years. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity and the Methodist church here. Funeral services were held yesterday at eleven o'clock in the Methodist church here. He was buried in the Mt. Vernon cemetery. Funeral services were in charge of the local Masonic lodge.
