Mrs. Amelia Briant Lum, the aged mother of our townsman, J. F. Briant, passed away this morning at six thirty-o'clock, at their home on Second avenue.
Her death was hardly expected though she had been in poor health for the past year and for the past eight months, confined to her bed the greater part of the time.
The funeral services will be conducted at the home Saturday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock and the remains will be taken to Dover, N.J. for burial, the funeral party leaving here Saturday night for that place.
Mrs Lum was 83 years of age. She was born in Ohio and while quite young moved to New Jersey, where she remained until eight years ago, when she came to this city to reside with her only [surviving] son, J. F. Briant, having since made her home here nearly all the time.
When a mere child she united with the Presbyterian Church and has lived a Christian life. She answers the final roll call after many years of usefulness an after living an exemplary life leaving a large number of sorrowing friends who deeply regret her sad death.
