MRS. ANNA B. NYCE DIES AT BETHEL GROVE
Mrs. Anna B. Nyce, 76, mother of Earl Nyce, 411 West State street, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at her home near Bethel Grove. She had been in failing health for several weeks and her condition had been serious since suffering a heart attack last Sunday. Mrs. Nyce was born Anna B. Arney Oct. 29, 1869, on a farm northwest of Albion known as Andrew Arney homestead. Her parents were Andrew and Elmira Elizabeth Mosher Arney, pioneers of that neighborhood. She was married March 26, 1890 to Howard Preston Nyce. The couple settled on a farm one-fourth mile south of Bethel Grove in 1894. She was a member of the old Bethel Grove Church of Christ and was active thruout her life in church work. She was preceded in death by Mr. Nyce, March 10, 1922, her parents, six sisters, two brothers and a daughter who died in infancy. Surviving are two daughters, Hazel, at home and Mrs. James Gould of Conrad; three sons, Earl H. of Marshalltown, Walter of Liscomb and Leonard P. of Ottumwa; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Sickman of St. Anthony; one brother, J. L. Arney of Marshalltown, 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethel Grove Church of Christ in charge of Rev. P. H. Peterson, assisted by Rev. George Biersborn. Burial will be in Bethel Grove cemetery. Friends may call at the Estel funeral home here until 11 a.m. Monday, it was announced.
