Harvey Guthrie was with the United States Colored Troops During the civil War.


Possibly Harvey Guthrie from Co F, 108th USACT Inf. but that is unconfirmed.

MESSAGE: Harvey Guthrie, alias Harvey Smith, of the 108Th USC Inf, Co. F has a Civil War pension ([pension cert # 293168) death notice with a date of 8 Aug 1921. The pension bureau was notified of his death on Aug 15th.

He had limited time in The Hot Springs National Soldier Home before winding up in the Marion, Indiana Soldiers Home where he was last discharged 25 Oct 1920. According to the Marion records, he had been married, but separated 10years or more from Eliza Smith of Hancock, Mich. Same records indicate that he did have a daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Patton, in Connersville, Ind. IF this is the same man, he enlisted 27 June 1864 at Louisville, KY and was discharged in Louisville, KY on 21 March 1866.
