LENA M. HASTINGS
Funeral services for Lena Menghini Hastings were conducted Tuesday, June 3 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Father Gerald Guida, S.J. officiated.
Rosary was recited Monday, June 2 at the Vase Funeral Chapel.
Interment took place in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pat Nimmo, Michael Nimmo, Steve Taylor, Keith Taylor, Michael Menghini and Glen Mason.
Mrs. Hastings, 85, of 752 Rugby Avenue, Rock Springs, died at 7:28 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Kimberly Manor Nursing Home.
She had been in ill health for the past six months.
A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, she was born in Rock Springs on April 2, 1901, the daughter of the late Peter and Angela Marchetti Menghini. She graduated from the Rock Springs High School and was married to Glen Hastings in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death.
She had been employed at the C.A. West Store and the Sweetbriar Shop in Rock Springs and was retired for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Nimmo and Mrs. John W. (Norma) Taylor, both of Rock Springs; a son, Col. Jack Hastings, U.S. Air Force stationed at Elmore, Alabama; a brother, Dr. R.R. Menghini of Rock Springs; a brother-in-law, Adolph Floretta and a sister-in-law, Hazel Menghini, both of Rock Springs; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Floretta and two brothers, Leno and Emmett Menghini.
Mrs. Hastings was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
