Helen was born March 18, 1929 in Dickinson, ND to Mike and Mary (Hledechuk) Malkowski. She grew up, attended country schools near Fairfield, ND, and then finished her education at Belfield High School. After graduation, she worked in Bismarck until moving to Kelso, WA. It was there Helen met Sterling Clement and the two were united in marriage on May 1, 1953 in Kelso, WA, and were blessed with one son, Dwayne. During this time, Helen worked at various jobs including, Pacific Highway Transportation, Garrett Freightliners and Kortens Appliance Store. Helen's retirement years were not those of rest as she became even more active, keeping up with her various hobbies of walking, hiking, gardening, sewing, attending local rummage sales and volunteering for many local events in the community.
Helen truly loved spending time with her family and friends. She made a trip back home to North Dakota each fall to visit and help with the canning. Traveling was an enjoyment of Helen's as well, with Hawaii and Alaska to name a few of her stops. Helen was also a devoted member of her local church in Kelso.
Helen is survived by her son Dwayne of Kelso, WA; Two Grandchildren: Mathew and Jennifer Clement, also of Kelso, WA; a brother Philip (Kathryn) Malkowski of Fairfield, ND; two nephews, Roger (Kathy) Malkowski of Fairfield, ND and Gary (Patricia) Malkowski of Dickinson, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: both of her parents, husband Sterling, and a brother David Malkowski.
Funeral Services for Helen were held Friday, December 16, 2005 in Kelso, WA, with entombment held at Longview Memorial Park.
