US Congressman. Born on a farm near Howell, Michigan, he graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan in 1901, was admitted and commenced to practice law in Lansing, Michigan. He was a member of the Michigan State House of Representatives (1915-21) and as a member of the Michigan State Senate, (1927-31). In 1931, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-second Congress, serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 78 in Lansing, Michigan.
