In the 1870 census Abraham was listed as the son of H. T. and Mary A. Helmick. His father was a physician. The family was living in Cherokee County, Kansas.
Abraham married May Farrar on December, 25, 1889, in Cherokee County, Kansas. They had two children, Gladys and Charles. In 1900 Abraham was living alone in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and working as a furniture maker. Gladys and Charles were living with their grandparents Isaac and Sarah Farrar in Leon City, Butler County, Kansas.
The following is from the Dallas Daily Times Herald, p. 17, col. 1, January 1, 1920:
"Abraham Lincoln Helmick, fifty-six years old, died at the Baptist Sanitarium Thursday morning at 5 o'clock. His home was in Hot Springs, Ark. Funeral services were held at Weiland's Chapel Thursday morning. He was survived by one son, C. F. Helmick of Dallas."
According to the death certificate he was a carpenter.
There is no marker or headstone on Abraham's grave.
