Rites Set Today

Thomas Milton (Uncle Tom) McCracken, 86, a prominent rancher-stock farmer in Howard County for more than a quarter of a century, died at his home near the Fairview Community at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at the Eberley Chapel, with Rev. Marvin Clark and Rev. Cloy Lyles in charge. Interment will be made in the Big Spring Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Byron McCracken of Fairview and Eugene McCracken of Waco; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Mae Ebner of Kingsbury, Calif., and Mrs. Lillian Moon, Lorena, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Horace McCracken of Prentis, N.C.; and a sister, Mrs. Cumi Teague, also of Prentis.
The deceased was born in Waynesville, N.C., March 8, 1865. He had lived in Howard County since 1925. His wife preceded him in death in 1918.
Pall bearers will be G. D. Webb, L. G. Bedwell, Elmer Askin, R. X. McNew, Robert Cline, Bill Grady, Roy Phillips and a Mr. Langley.
