Helen A. Sandage, 82, passed away peacefully March 29, 2005 at her home in Oklahoma City. Helen was born April 14, 1922 to Myron and Carrie Hayes. She was happily married to James E.B. Sandage for 57 years.
A National award winning vocalist, she attended Drake University and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. An Elementary School teacher for 30 years, she served as Choir Director at First Methodist Church in Muskogee. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Oklahoma City in 1969 and have been active members of Wesley Methodist Church where both sang in the choir. They loved to travel and visited many parts of the world in their retirement. Helen was an active member of P.E.O. for many years.
She is survived by her husband, her two sons, Steve and Rob, a daughter-in-law, Vicki, and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11:30 am to 2 pm Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. Services will be held at 10 am the following day at Wesley Methodist Church.
