James Greer McClain, 81, of 1228 Kittanning Pike, Chicora, died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home of natural causes. Born in East Brady, July 1, 1918, he was the son of Louis and Dessa May (Simpson) McClain. Mr. McClain was a 1935 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School and retired from the petrolatum laboratory at Pennzoil, now Penreco, in Karns City, after 40 years. During World War II, he served with the Army infantry in Germany. He enjoyed golf, baseball and his dogs. He attended Karns City Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia C. (McCollough) McClain, whom he married June 24, 1942, in Cumberland, Md.; two daughters, Patricia Reinhardt of Stark, Fla. and Susan McClain of Monroeville, a son J. Greer "Sonny" McClain Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Grace Chuhra of Karns City; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A brother preceded him in death.
