Mrs. Essie Alline (Coon) Parks, age 94 passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004. Mrs. Parks was born August 19, 1909 near Austonio and lived all of her life in Houston County. Mrs. Parks was a retired elementary school teacher and taught for over 20 years. Mrs. Parks may best be remembered for her sweet and generous spirit and her deep devotion to family and faith. Mrs. Parks was a charter member of the Central Baptist Church in Crockett. Mrs. Parks and her husband Ottis M. Parks helped to found the original church.
Survivors include her daughters Nelda Carter, Carolyn Goldman and husband C. A. Goldman, all of Crockett, Sandra Parks, of Arlington, Diana Parks, of Crockett; son James Parks, of Woodville; granddaughter Gaye Lyn (Goldman) and husband John Lehenbauer, of Longview; grandson Charles and wife Niki Goldman, of Crockett; granddaughter Sarah Carter and husband Mike Crow, of Crockett; five great-grandchildren; and sister Lavon Shiflett, of Arlington.
Preceded in death by her husband Otis Mancel Parks; son-in-law Charles Carter; grandson Chad Carter; parents James Asa and Daisy Taylor Coon; and nine brothers and sisters.
