___
EDWARDS COUNTY LEADER
Kinsley, Edwards County, Kansas
March 7, 1878
Mrs. Fitch, of Fitchburg, is dangerously ill.
THE VALLEY REPUBLICAN
March 30, 1878
The wife of our esteemed fellow citizen, John Fitch of Nettleton, breathed her last at twenty minutes before 3 p.m. Thursday, she having been insensible for two days. She
has long been afflicted with that terrible disease, cancer. It will be remembered that several months ago she went to Ft. Dodge for the purpose of having the Post Surgeon, Dr. Tremaine, perform an operation, which he did, but a cure was not effected. By an unseen hand, she has been relieved of all bodily pain, and by the same hand provided with a place in that beautiful hereafter where pain and sorrow are unknown - that land where there is no strife, set apart by a wide and beneficient being, as the last resting place of every person bearing the image of God. The grief-stricken husband and motherless children have the sympathies of all our people. The funeral will take place at Mr. Fitch‵s residence to-morrow afternoon, at 3 o‵clock.
___
THE EDWARDS COUNTY LEADER of April 3, 1878 also reported her death and stated that her funeral was attended by a large number of the citizens of Kinsley.
___
John Fitch, Esq. was reported to be in court in Kinsley during the end of June 1878 to handle the suit brought against Mrs. Fitch‵s estate for payment of medical services provided by Dr. Tremiane. Mr. Fitch had just returned from Chicago prior to the hearing.
