Dr. George Tryon Harding M.D., son of Charles A. Harding and Elizabeth Madison Harding. He was named for his paternal grandfather. Born and raised in Morrow County, Harding attended Iberia College (a.k.a. Ohio Central College) in Iberia, Ohio. After two stints in the Union Army, Harding decided on following a medical career, first studying on his own, and then assisting a local doctor on his rounds. Harding received his license to practice as a Doctor of Homeopathy, and later after further education, was licensed as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)

Married (I) Phoebe Dickerson, a midwife, and later a doctor in her own right. After Mrs. Harding's death, Dr. Harding married Eudora Kelly Luvisi, a widow. The couple divorced in 1916. Dr. Harding married a third time to in 1921 to Alice Severns to whom he was married at the time of his death.

Father of eight children which he had by his first wife: Warren, Charity (nicknamed "Chat"), Mary, Daisy, George, and Caroline (Carrie) lived to adulthood. Two other children, Charles, and Almira both died at a young age.

While Dr. Harding's life stands it's own, it should be noted that his and Phoebe Harding's eldest son, Warren G. Harding was elected the 29th President of the United States in 1920. When Warren G. Harding died in August 1923 and was returned to Marion for viewing and burial, thousands of citizens of Marion, The State of Ohio, and the nation paid that final call at Dr. Harding's home on East Center Street, Marion, Ohio.
