Amy Scovill Wade was the daughter of Amasa Scovill (b. 1774 in Ct--1865 in NY) and Rhoda Marsh (b. 1777 Ct--1846 in NY). Amy's grandfather was Samuel Scovill (Memorial #70335654), an American patriot who fought in the Revolutionary War as per the DAR. Grandfather Samuel moved the family (including Amasa) from Connecticut to the Durham, New York area after his wife died.

The Scovills were early founding settlers in the Durham area, and were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Durham and later its offshoot the Second Presbyterian Church of Durham.

It was within the church that Amy undoubtedly met her husband, Beri Wade (Memorial #70335644). His family were also early members of that church. Amy and Beri were married on 25 Oct 1827, and remained active members of the church for their entire lives. They had several children:

Azuba (Zuba) Sophia Wade Chapin 1827 – 1859 (#103545719)
Cynthia Marena Wade Cammer 1829 – 1898 (#118105400)
Rhoda Scovill Wade Ingraham 1830 – 1884 (#70335536)
Luther Stanley Wade 1833 – 1914 (#126555321)
Marcus Wade 1835 – 1876 (#70335641)
Alzina Emerene Wade Tompkins 1848 – 1883 (70335643)

Alzina Wade Tompkins, Rhoda Wade Ingraham, Marcus Wade, and Azuba (Zuba) Wade Chapin are all also buried in the West Durham Cemetery. Luther Stanley Wade's burial site is unknown. Cynthia Marena Wade Cammer is buried in West Conesville Cemetery beside her husband John Cammer.

Beri and Amy had a full house for their entire lives, as Beri's mother Hannah Bradley Wade lived with them until her death in 1866 (Memorial #70335646). In addition, their son Marcus Wade (1835-1876, Memorial #70335641), who farmed with his father, died unexpectedly early leaving his widow with several small children. As a result, Marcus's children and his widow Lucia Humphrey Wade (Memorial #70335642) lived with Beri and Amy, so they essentially raised those grandchildren.

Some researchers have mistakenly assigned Beri and Amy as the parents of Marcus's children. However, a review of the US Census reports will show that they are in fact grandchildren. Marcus and Lucia Wade had the following children, who were therefore GRANDCHILDREN of Beri and Amy:

Theobelle Wade 1864 – 1962
Lucian Humphrey Wade 1868 – 1943
Edwin Luther Wade 1870 – 1956
Judson Delos Wade 1874 – 1946
Willie Wade 1876 – 1876

Amy Scovill is buried with her husband Beri, her mother in law Hannah Bradley, her son Marcus, her daughter in law Lucia Humphrey, and several other family members in West Durham Cemetery, Durham, Greene, New York.

Likewise, her grandfather Samuel Scovill is buried there. I feel sure that her father Amasa and mother Rhoda are as well, but I have not seen gravestones to identify them there.
