Edwin Phillips Kohl, son of a pioneer Nasonville family, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 9, at his home, 1806 Vallejo St., San Francisco, Calif., where he had been living since his retirement in 1961 from law practice in New York City.
Burial will take place Friday in Golden Gate Military cemetery in San Francisco.
Mr. Kohl was 76 years of age. He was born in Nasonville April 8, 1891, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John E. Kohl, pioneer residents of the Nasonville area. After attending Nasonville schools, he was graduated from the former Marshfield McKinley High School in 1909, from the University of Wisconsin in 1913, and from Harvard Law School in 1917.
His only remaining relatives in Marshfield are two nieces, Mrs. G. Stanley Custer and Mrs. Harold Viergutz, with whom he visited the past summer after attending his 50th class reunion at Harvard.
Prior to the past summer, Mr. Kohl had made periodic visits to Marshfield and Nasonville, to visit friends and relatives and remaining members of his 24-student high school graduation class.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Van de Bogart, British Columbia.
