Following last rites held at the home 4-1/2 miles northwest of Lake View and from the Methodist church in Wall Lake last Thursday afternoon, the mortal remains of Frank Dunkin, esteemed pioneer resident, were laid to rest in the Wall Lake cemetery. A large concourse of friends attended the funeral.

During the services, Mrs. Virgil Williams and Mrs. Edward Johannsen, with Mrs. Anna Hoft as the pianist sang, "Does Jesus Care?" and "Shall We Gather at the River?"

The pallbearers were H.H. Peper, C.W. Spencer, Howard Winans, Geo. Auen, Fred Norman and Thos. Busroe.

The ritual of the I.O.O.F. lodge was carried out at the graveside. Those present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. B.C. Stanzel of Sioux Rapids and Mrs. Elizabeth Dunkin and two children of Marshalltown.

Frank Dunkin, a son of Perry and Mary Clark Dunkin, was born at Elwood in Clinton county, Iowa on Sept. 17th, 1859. At the time of his passing on Nov 16, 1937, he was 78 years 1 month and 28 days.

He came here from Clinton county in 1875. On April 3, 1889, he was married to Miss Magdalena Angel of near Odebolt at the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Chris Roth of Levey township, near Wall Lake. The couple lived in Mr. Dunkin's parental home for about a year, and then built the home nearby which has since been their residence.

Mr. Dunkin is survived by his wife, five children, three grandchildren, one brother and one sister, the later of whom are George Dunkin of Wall Lake and Mrs. Sarah Southwell of Joe, Colo. His children are Mrs. Rosa Hausman of Odebolt, Mrs. Clark Kenyon of Lake View; Mrs. Clem Venzke of Sac City, Mrs. Louis Venzke of Early and Perry of Lake View.

Mr. Dunkin was a quiet, honest, hardworking man and a kind husband and father and a good neighbor and friend.
