CLINTON - Harrold Walker Evans, 59, of Clinton, a retired carman and member for 15 years of the Clinton Unit 15 Board of Education, died at 10:16 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 9, 1990) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

Mr. Evans was born May 2, 1931, in DeWitt County, a son of Walker M. and Beulah Bird Evans. He married Shirley N. Willis April 7, 1952, in Clinton. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Timothy P., Clinton; one brother, Robert Case, Clinton; seven sisters, Dorothy Alsup, Kenney; Ila Andrews, Dunlap; Judy Kirkham, Boynton Beach, Fla.; and Virginia Hickman, Mary Lomascolo, Nina Evans and Arlene Hoffman, all of Clinton; one stepsister, Thelma Wegner, Coffeyville, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

One son, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

Mr. Evans was a retired carman for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, a member of Local 594 of Railway Carmen Division of Transportation Communications International Union, and the local carmen's union representative.

He was a member of the DeWitt County Masonic Lodge 84, Bloomington Consistory, Clinton Chapter of the Clinton Commandery and the Clinton Magdela White Shrine.

A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Clinton American Legion Post.

Mr. Evans was a member of the DeWitt County Sportsman's Club, the Clinton Athletic Boosters Club, the Diehard Cub Fans Club, and was a coach for the Connie Mack and the Khoury Boys leagues. He also was a member of the Clinton Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge and the Clinton United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Leukemia Foundation.

His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be at 8 p.m. Sunday.
