That same year, he was cast in the role of Louis XVI in the film "Marie Antoinette" for which he received an Academy Award Nomination as Best Supporting Actor. A veteran of nearly a 100 films, his credits include "The African Queen" (1951), "Beat the Devil" (1953), "Topkapi" (1964), "Genghis Khan" (1965) and "Istanbul" (1989). For television, he was on the series "Armchair Theatre", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents", "Parent Craft", "Lady Killers" and "War and Remembrance" He died in Reading, England, of a stroke at age 84.
