Virgil Franklin Hodge

Virgil Franklin Hodge, 87, passed away at 4:38 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at the Missouri Veteran's Home, Warrensburg, MO.

He was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Carthage, MO., the son of Jesse Hodge and Mary (Foster) Hodge. His parents preceded him in death. Three brothers, Edward W. Hodge, Johnny L. Hodge, Jessie Edward Hodge Jr., six sisters, Fannie Hodge, Opal Taylor, Pearl Hilton, Faynelle Forrest, Peggy Hodge and Viola Maxine Schooler also preceded him in death.

He served in the United States Army during WWII in the followings campaigns, Rhineland, the Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France, and the Air Offensive Europe and received six Bronze Stars for Valor.

He married Elnora Faye Hodge on June 15, 1945, in Columbus, Kan. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2005.

He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage, MO.

Two children, Sheila Hall and husband Mark, Richmond, MO., J. Ferrell Hodge and wife Linda, MO., three sisters, Nadine Ward, Carthage, MO., Hazel Griffith, Sarcoxie, MO., Lenora Lavon (Bonnie) Jacobsen, Neb., and one brother, Richard Harold Hodge Sr., Spring Hill, Kan., eight grandchildren, John Hodge and wife Tabby, Nathan Hall, Aaron Hall and wife Katy, Sarah Hodges and husband Charley, Elizabeth Hall, Naomi Hall, Isaac Hall, Hannah Hall and six great-grandchildren survive him.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at the Knell Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday Dec. 22, 2008, at the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage, MO. Pastor Boyce Mouton will officiate. Interment will be in the Jasper Cemetery, Reeds, MO.

Elnora Faye Hodge

Elnora Faye Hodge, 80, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

She was born on July 18, 1924, in Marshfield, MO., to Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Todd.

She graduated from Marshfield, MO., and attended college for two years. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.

She married Virgil Hodge on June 15, 1945, in Columbus, Kan. He survives.

She is also survived by a son, John Ferrell Hodge of Carthage; a daughter, Sheila Hall of Richmond, MO.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rex Todd.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. Interment will be in the Jasper Cemetery, southeast of Carthage.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knell Mortuary.

Services were held for Elnora Faye Hodge, 80, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at the Fairview Christian Church, Carthage.

She died at 12:30 a.m. Wed., March 16, at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

The Rev. Victor Knowles officiated. Pallbearers were John Hodge Jr., Nathan Hall, Aaron Griffith, Charley Hodges, Gene Kinney, Louis Taylor and Chuck Giesle.

Interment was in the Jasper Cemetery southeast of Carthage.

Arrangements were under the direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
