"DEATH OF D. E. BROKAW
Former Well Known Resident of Richburg Died at Angelica on Friday Morning.
RICHBURG, Jan. 17 – (Special to The Breeze) – Dorr E. Brokaw, a former well known and highly respected resident of this village, died at his home in Angelica on Friday morning, January 22, of heart trouble. He was aged 73 years.
Funeral serves were held at the First Baptist church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. R. W. Entwistle officiating, assisted by Rev. Fairchild of Angelica and Evangelist Jim Cady. Burial was in the Richburg cemetery.
Mr. Brokaw was born at Moravia, N. Y., July 12, 1852. He was a son of Peter and Harriet Bokaw [sic]. Surviving him are his wife; one son, Dorr E. Brokaw, Jr., of Angelica; one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Hyna of Manchester, N.Y.
He came to Richburg when he was 20 years of age. He was a former superintendent of the Richburg First Baptist Sunday school and president of the local Christian endeavor society. He also was senior deacon of this church for 53 years; a deacon for 33 years; a clerk for about 30 years; and a consistent Christian.
Mr. Brokaw, for a number of years was engaged in the bakery business. He moved from this place to Angelica about seven years ago."
[NOTE: First wife was Eva Arabella Richardson;Carrie was one of 3 known children from that marriage. Dorr E. Jr. is from the second marriage to Cora.
