Funeral services for Wilbert Moses "Webb" Allender 85, 1010 Sixth Street, were held this afternoon from Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert Ruleman officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Allender was born on June 11, 1893, in Montgomery County, Iowa, to Benjamin F Allender and Eliza Frances Chandler, and died at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Monday, July 10, 1978.
He lived and farmed in the Red Oak area all of his life and married Carrie Emma Selders on June 24, 1931 at Griswold. She preceded him in death in 1938. They had one daughter together. He then married Edna McFarland on June 25, 1958, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mr. Allender retired and moved to Red Oak in May of 1976. He was a retired farmer and avid hunter and fisherman. He was a charter member of Red Oak BPO Elks Lodge No. 1304 and former member of Eagles Aerie No. 2715.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Ben Allender, Red Oak, Duane Damewood, LaPorte, Texas, Jack Clark, Pompa, Texas, Ron Clark, Council Bluffs, Don Clark, Red Oak; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald Josephson, Mrs. Gerald Bruce, Mrs. Clarence Cleland, and Mrs. Donald Burg, all of Red Oak.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Fire Department Rescue Unit.
