Servies for Edna Ethel Allender, 78, Red Oak, were Wednesday at Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home in Red Oak with Rev. Steve Goad officiating. Burial was in the Quincy Cemetery north of Corning. She died Monday, March 26, 1990 at Red Oak Good Samaritan Center following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Allender was born September 7, 1911 in Montgomery County to John and Loretta McFarland. She married John Harrison Damewood October 31, 1928 in Adams County. Following the death of her first husband, she married Cleadus W. Clark on May 22, 1937 in Red Oak. She married William Moses Allender June 25, 1958 in Omaha. She lived most of her life in Red Oak and was a cook in restaurants. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Auxiliary No. 2715, and Montgomery County Historical Society, all of Red Oak.
Survivors include her three sons, Jack Clark of Amarillo,Texas, Duane Damewood of Stanton, and Ben Allender of Red Oak; five daughters, Elnora Josephson, Dorothy Bruce, Anna Marie Cleland, and Sharlene Burg, all of Red Oak, and Opal Pierce of Moberly, Missouri; 35 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Claude McFarland of Williams, Arizona and Paul McFarland of Stanton; and three sisters, Betty Black of Avoca, Lenora Smith of Red Oak, and Virginia Goldsmith of Omaha.
