Kathleen A. Black, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister departed this life Monday, March 21, 2011 at her home with her devoted husband and caregiver at her side. Kathy was born in Logansport, Ind. on January 6, 1944 and was married to Jerry L. Black on July 10, 1965. In addition to her spouse, she leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Perry Mark Black, Scott Black, and Matthew Black, all of Ft. Wayne; daughter, Erin Paige Black of Denver, CO; sisters, Judith Peterson of Jackson, TN and Debbie Perry of Logansport, IN; and nine grandchildren. Kathy was raised in the Catholic Faith and graduated Logansport High School in 1961. In 1980, she received her LPN and in 1993 her RN after graduating from IPFW. She retired from Parkview hospital after many years of service. Her passions were reading, gardening, sewing, cooking, and crafting. In 2000, she served on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Betty Perry; and granddaughter Emma Black. Service is 10 am, Thursday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road with calling an hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
