Byron Town Officer Dies At Age Of 76
Richard Kohlman Service Slated At St. John's; Survivors Listed
Richard Kohlman 76, a former Town of Byron chairman, died Friday at St. Agnes hospital. He was active in community affairs and also served for many years as president of the Fond du Lac Safety council.
Mr. Kohlman was born on March 31, 1885, in the Town of Fond du Lac, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kohlman. He was married to Kathryn Kelley on Oct. 17, 1917, at St. Joseph's church.
Mr. Kohlman was a charter member of Branch 644 of the Knights of Columbus and also belonged to the South Byron Grange. He served as town chairman for 12 years. He was a member of St. John's church at Byron and its Holy Name society.
Survivors are the widow; two sisters, Mrs. John Karls, Johnsburg and Mrs. Clara Berenz, St. Cloud; four brothers, Claude Kohlman, Van Dyne, Herman Kohlman, St. Cloud, Val Kohlman, Pipe, and Ralph Kohlman, Cascade, and nieces and nephews.
Two sisters and two brothers preceded Mr. Kohlman in death.
Services will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Bidlingmaier Funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. John's church at Byron. The body will like in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. on Sunday.
