Richard E. Burdett, 83, of Chillicothe, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at V.A. Medical Center, Chillicothe.

He was born March 24, 1927 in Chillicothe, son of the late John Burdett and Henrietta I. (Henkel) Burdett Dawson. On June 28, 1947, Richard was united in marriage to Edith K. (Glover) Burdett who survives.

Also surviving are three sons; one daughter, of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, of Columbus, OH and special friend, Chillicothe, OH.

In addition to his parents, a brother, Charles Burdett and a sister, Clarice Evelyn "Tommy" Bland preceded Richard in death.

Richard was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church, a retired Mead Corporation Crane Operator, Chillicothe, OH, a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, member of the Mead Retirees Club and a member of U.P.I.U., Local #731 Chillicothe, OH.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME in Waverly with Rev. Dane Knapp. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly, with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Merritt Post 142, Waverly.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Friday.
