Darlene (Darty) Nelson Ewing, 51, a longtime resident of China Spring, died Sunday at a local hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2000 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with the Rev. Paul Smith, the Rev. Donnie Brown and Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery. Family visition will be at the home of Bro. Paul Smith, 2716 Pine.
Mrs. Ewing was born on October 1, 1948 in Waco, the daughter of Howard, Sr. & Margie Nelson. She was a graduate of China Spring High School. She married Edward Ray Ewing, January 21, 1978. Mrs. Ewing worked for many years as a cosmetologist. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of China Spring. Darty was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and granny. Her family and grandchildren were her life. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Deborah Jean Nelson.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Ewing of China Spring; her mother, Margie Nelson of China Spring; two sons, Craig Ewing and Lisa of Crawford and Kevin Ewing and Mary Kathryn of Coppell; her brother, Howard (Bubba) Nelson of China Spring; five grandchildren, Timothy, J.R., Danielle, Benji and Bailey Ewing, and her lifelong sister and friend, Patsy House Langford of Iola, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Rick Blendon, Rob Blendon, Ron Blendon, Joel Smith, Doyle Lawless and Monty Grayson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Homer Ladd, Dr. Roddy, Dr. Kosarek, Dr. Springer, Dr. Speckmeier, and Dr. Salinas.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or First Baptist Church of China Spring.
