Miss Lambert died on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Lucy Marcella Lambert was born on April 19, 1933, in Rochester, to Ira and Olive (Bernard) Lambert. She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1952. Lucy was a lifelong Chatfield resident.
She was born with severe physical disabilities. With the help from her family she grew to overcome these obstacles and learned to live and enjoy the simple things in life. She truly was an inspiration to the ones who knew her.
Lucy worked as a news reporter for the Chatfield News under four different editors and retired on Dec. 29, 1993, after 40 years. She was the writer of the "Folks you Know" column, and also wrote the "Remember When" column. She also wrote the birth and wedding announcements, as well as meeting notices. All of her work was done at home.
Lucy served on the Founders Committee to establish the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. She was active on the committee until recently and was named an Honorary Member.
Survivors include a sister, Audrey Burge of Corpus Christi, Texas; a niece, Barbara Carpenter of McKinney, Texas; and a nephew, Douglas Burge of Corpus Christi. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Donna Lambert.
