Abraham was the oldest son of Isaac and Anna Nancy (Haldeman) Krieble. Abraham's middle name was most likely Haldeman and he was named after his maternal grandfather, the Rev. Abraham Haldeman, a Mennonite minister.

Abraham stayed in Pennsylvania and married Elizabeth prior to 1859 when their oldest son Wilson was born. The rest of Abraham's family had moved west to Ohio in the 1840s. At some point during the late 1870s, Abraham moved his family to Osage County, Kansas where they lived for a couple decades before finally moved west again to Washington.

Abraham and Elizabeth had five children:
Wilson B., b. 1859
Mary, b. 1863
Daniel B., b. 1865
Anna, b. 1868
Elizabeth, b. 1871
