Maude was born April 23, 1882, in Lucas County, the daughter of Ernest and Ella Nora (Hazell) Evans. Ernest and Ella were married on January 20, 1881, at Joseph Chambers' home (which would have been around Ottawa). They lived on a farm north of Woodburn and then moved into the town of Woodburn about 1914. Ernest was born in Lucas on October 6, 1852, and died on December 16, 1917. Ella was born in Wisconsin on February 19, 1859, and died on October 1, 1919. They are both buried at the Woodburn Cemetery. Maude was their only child and they also took Ernest Howard into their home at the age of two and raised him to adulthood.

Maude courageously raised their daughter after Charlie's death, only to lose her at the young age of 29. Maude then raised Marie and Morris' son, Clare. Maude gave piano lessons to Woodburn children and frequently played for funerals and other occasions. She taught her grandson, Clare, to sing and play the piano. They entered the amateur contests at Woodburn when he was young, with him singing and Maude playing the guitar. Maude had a Model A car that they would take and go visiting various friends and relatives on Sunday afternoons. Maude passed away on April 12, 1961, at Osceola, and is buried at the Woodburn Cemetery.
