The son of Capt. John & Mary (Turvill) Pike, he married Susanna Kingsbury on Jan. 29, 1662 in Newbury, Essex, Mass. He was a representative for Newbury at the General Court from 1690 to 1692 and a deputy sheriff.

"History of Haverhill, Mass." by Chase, p. 169: "On Sept. 4th, two men, Joseph Pike and Richard Long, both of Newbury, were slain by the savages as they were traveling, near the north of Pond Plain [near Dover]. The enemy lay in a deserted house by the way or in a clump of brushes, or both."
