Obituary
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2007 at a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Roy John Prejean, age 78, who passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at 10:25 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Harold Trahan, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Mike Prejean and Carol Ann. Giftbearers will be Holly Menard and Julie Russo.

Musical selections will be provided by Sal Melancon, accompanied by Jason Bergeron on the fiddle.

Mr. Prejean was a native of Carencro and a resident of Lafayette. He was a barber for 26 years and was owner and operator of LaBoutique A Roy in Carencro for 8 years. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette and St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Prejean was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was also an avid country music song writer.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Elsie Prejean of Lafayette; two sons, Mike "Swifty" Prejean and his wife, Eva Nell, of Lafayette and Peter Prejean and his wife, Janie, of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Debbi Trahan and her husband, David, of Carencro and Suzanne Richard and her husband, Mike, of Lafayette; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Carroll Prejean of Carencro and one sister, Lena P. Dugas of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Prejean and mother the former Celine Babineaux, both natives of Carencro; one brother, Milton Prejean and two sisters, Earline Latour and Enola Latour.

Pallbearers will be Christian Brugman, Blayne Prejean, John Daigle, Amos Daigle, Jacob Daigle and Shannon Savoie. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Cuellar, Blake Trahan, Patrick Trahan and Ty Brugman.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue was in charge of arrangements.
