Services Held for Carl E. Bergman, Dec. 19

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Edward Bergman, about 62 years old, were held yesterday, Wednesday, December 19, 1962 in the Calvary Methodist Church of Stratford, Rev. Harold Olson, pastor, officiated. Hanson Funeral Home of Stratford had charge of arrangements. Burial was made in the Hardin Township Cemetery near Stratford.

Mr. Bergman died at the Hamilton County Hospital last Sunday, after a long illness. He was born in Boone and worked as a carpenter until he retired about 10 years ago.

Carl Edward Bergman, son of the late Edward and Augusta Samuelson Bergman, was born in Boone on August 27, 1900. He passed away on December 16, 1962 at the Hamilton County Hospital, at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 19 days following a lingering illness.

He was baptized at the Swede Bend Mission Church on November 18, 1900. His boyhood days were spent in the Stratford community.

He was married to Florence Anderson of near Stratford on July 27, 1926 and to this union four sons and three daughters were born.

Left to mourn are his wife, six children, Robert, Howard, Mrs. Kenneth (Shirley) Iles of Stratford, Mrs. Donald (Norma) Kidd of Independence, Iowa, Jerry and Ronald at home, five sisters: Mrs. Milton (Mabel) Nelson of Dayton, Mrs. Elsie Morrison of Des Moines, Mrs. Helen Knight and Iva Bergman of Boone, and Mrs. John (Grace) Borland of Story City, and one brother Rudy Bergman of Dayton and ten grandchildren. He also leaves a number of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, a daughter, Patty and a grandson, Mitchell, one sister, Mrs. Carl (Julia) Johnson of Dayton, and a sister who died in infancy.

Funeral services were conducted at Calvary Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold N. Olson in charge of the services, Wednesday, December 19 at 2 p.m.. Burial was in the Hardin Township Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hanson Funeral Home of Stratford.
