GARFIELD, Md. - Mary Smith Rigger, 85, of Garfield-Smithsburg Road, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at College View Nursing Home in Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 7, 1919, in Garfield, she was the daughter of the late Ruben W. and Bessie M. Kendall Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Rigger.
She attended Wolfsville (Md.) area schools.
She was employed by Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Md.
She attended Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Foxville, Md.
She is survived by one sister, Freda M. Hovis of Williamsport; one brother, Merle L. Smith of Garfield; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Edna Green, Hilda Brown, Evelyn Fox and Pearl Toms, and three brothers, Floyd Smith, Nelson Smith and Donald Smith.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. Pastor Randy Reid will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
