Mrs. Sallie Altman Prevatte, 86, widow of Oscar Prevatte, died Wednesday afternoon in a Conway hospital. She had been in declining health for some time and seriously ill for the past week.
Funeral services were Friday at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church at Yauhannah with interment in the churchyard. Officiating was the Rev. Stephen F. Atwood. Mayer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Prevatte was born in Williamsburg County on Oct. 9, 1890, a daughter of the late Samuel Altman and Mrs. Icilda Hughes Altman. She moved to Georgetown County as a child and had spent most of her life in the area. Mrs. Prevatte was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, James Samuel Prevatte of Hemingway, O. Cordie Prevatte of Georgetown, Harry L. Prevatte of Conway, and Bennie Prevatte of Plantersville; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite P. Plexico of Summerville, Mrs. Meta P. Berry of Georgetown, and Mrs. Annie Laurie P. Rheuark of Conway; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
