(special thanks to William K. Bowen for the following info) Peter was 11 January 1806, in Bulloch County Georgia and died December 1875, in Bryan County, Georgia. He is the son of David Jonathan Strickland & Treacy Martin. Treacy Martin’s mother was a Loumbee Indian (her name is not known) and David Jonathan Strickland’s mother, “Appie”, was a Croatan Indian. Peter married Rebecca McElveen, born 1807, died 18 MAR 1856.

Peter's Grandparents were John Strickland, Jr. (1749-1836). His grandfather was born in old Edgecombe County, the English Province of North Carolina and this part of the County, in later years, became Halifax County, North Carolina. He died at his home between Mushmelon and Watermelon Creeks, Tattnall County, Georgia and his Indian wife, Appa (“Appie”), an indian from the Croatan tribe in North Carolina. She was born in Haifax, North Carolina.

Peter's Great Grandparents were John Strickland, Sr.(1729-1788), believed to be from England & his great grandmother, Elizabeth Campbell. A Scottish lass, was born in Argyle, Argyleshire, Scotland, prior to immigrating to the colonies in North America.
