Leo Clemens, Trausch Co. Official, Dies
Leo J. Clemens died at 3:55 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital. He was a prominent Dubuque businessman.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffmann Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Columbkille’s Church. The RT. Rev Msgr. Joseph E. Dunn, pastor, will officiate at the Requiem High Mass. Burial will be at the Mount Livet Cemetery.
He belonged to the Holy Name Society, Sacred Heart League, Elk’s, Dubuque Shooting Society member and past president of Dubuque’s Kiwanis Club, charter member of “Twenty-five year club” of Trausch Baking Co., Dubuque Business and Traveling Men’s Association, Dubuque Chamber of Commerce and served on its board for three years.
He was a member of the Dubuque Park Board and served as its secretary for 10 years.
He was born at North Washington, Iowa, son of Michael and Catherine Adams Clemens and resided in Dubuque for the past 21 years.
He was associated with the Trausch Baking Co. as office manager for 32 years, until illness forced him to take sick leave. The past two years, he and his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Clemens, operated the Leo Clemens Microfilm Service.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude Luke, a daughter Miss Leann Clemens, a graduate student at the University of Iowa; a son, David, at home a sisters Mrs. Henry (Catherine) (Misspelled Kathryn) Maiers, Dubuque, 3 brothers, Nicholas J. Clemens, Wimbledon, N.D.; William M. Clemens, Dubuque; Edward J. Clemens, Ackley, IA
Members of the St. Columbkille’s parish and its Holy Name Society will meet at the Hoffmann Mortuary at 8 p.m. Wednesday to recite the Rosary. The Mercy Hospital Service Club will join the parish in the recitation of the Rosary.
