Leanne (Clemens) Cox, age 69, of Dubuque, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Mercy Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 6 at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 3:00 p.m.

She was born in 1937 in Dubuque, the daughter of Leo and Gertrude (Luke) Clemens.

Leanne received her BA from Clarke College in 1959, and completed Physical Therapy training at the University of Iowa in September of 1960. She was a lifelong member of the Iowa Physical Therapy Association.

Leanne practiced Physical Therapy first at Medical Associates in downtown Dubuque, and then went to Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, LA. She met her husband , Charles "C.P." Cox while they were both working at Delgado Vocational Rehabilitation Center (Delgado College, N.O. LA) in 1965. They were married in 1965 at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church, Dubuque. Leanne practiced Physical Therapy at the University of Iowa Crippled Children Services Clinics in 1968. Upon moving back to Dubuque in 1969, she practiced with Duane Chase in PT, in what became "Comprehensive Physical Therapy," until she became disabled and retired in 1992. Leanne was well known around the nursing homes of the Dubuque Tri-State area. She served on the ARC Board for many years. She also served on the Thunderhills C.C. Board.

Leanne loved cooking, entertaining, children, family gatherings, community service, camping, and bridge. Her disability slowed her down, but it did not by any means stop her. Her motorhome with a power chair lift enriched her life. She was known to be very good at organizing activities and making them work. Everyone loved her sense of humor, and even in her last hours, she was quipping jokes.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles "C.P." Cox of Dubuque; their daughter, Cynthia Marie (Erik) Cox-Thorland; her grandson, Boden Edward; her brother, Dave (Karen) Clemens of Dubuque; and nieces and nephew, Jennifer, Kevin, Kristin, and Lisa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
