OBITUARY - The Rochester Sentinel
Thursday, November 18, 1976

Ralph L. SHOEMAKER, 69, Argos, died at 12:27 a.m. today in Plymouth Parkview hospital, where he had been a patient three weeks. He had been ill for two years.

He was born Sept. 27, 1907 in Kosciusko county to Clifford and Nettie CHAPMAN SHOEMAKER. He was married Aug. 31, 1929 in Waukegon, Ill., to Beatrice SHIMER, who survives. He moved to Argos three years ago from R.R. 5, Rochester. For the last 10 years, he had been an associated Realtor with the Ernie Probst agency in Plymouth. Before that, he had operated a lumber business at Leiters Ford and also had owned and operated the former Tiosa elevator. He was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren, of which he was a former Sunday School superintendent.

Surviving with the wife are a son, Robert [SHOEMAKER], Knoxville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Fern) SWIHART, R.R. 1, Argos; four brothers, Roy [SHOEMAKER], R.R. 1, Argos; Raymond [SHOEMAKER], gary; Lee [SHOEMAKER], Windsor, Cal., and Carl [SHOEMAKER], Hemet, Cal.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Grossman funeral home at Argos with the Revs. William BOSSERMAN and Robert HANSEN officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Brethren cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the coronary unit of Parkview hospital at Plymouth.
