Aged Hawley Resident Dies

A.P. Howard ,88, Father of Local Woman ,to Be Buried Today

A.P. Howard, 88, former resident of Hawley, succumbed here today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Hiram Guy, at 12:15 o'clock Saturday morning. He had been ill June 4.

Born in Cumberland County,Tennessee, December 20 ,1847. Mr. Howard came to Texas in 1897, settling in Montague County. In 1924 he and his wife moved to Hawley. Near the first of this year, Mr. Howard came to Abilene to live with his daughter.

Mr. Howard had been a member of the Methodist Church for 55 years and held membership in the Hawley church at the time of his death.

Funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Hawley Methodist Church. The Rev. Arthur Kendall, pastor and Rev. J.E. Stephens of Oak Street Methodist Church , Abilene, will officiate. Burial will be made in Hawley cemetery by the grave of Mrs. Howard, who died in 1931. Laughter Funeral home will be in charge.

Surviving Mr. Howard are six sons; G.G. of Aspermont, J.S. of Choctaw, Okla., G.C. of Bonita,Tx., Q.S., Lubbock, P.P., Big Spring, and A.A., Olton and five daughters; Mrs. E.S. Howard, Bonita,TX., Mrs. Mary A. Miller, Verden,Okla., Mrs. Ivan S. Harris, Ellensburg, Wash., Mrs. Carl Foster, Snyder, and Mrs. Guy, Abilene.

Pall bearers for Sunday's rites will be O.C. Gilbreath, G.E. Conner, Roy Lambert, Arthur Clyburn, W.W. Woods and Berlin Burrow.

Beside his wife he was preceded in death by a son, James Calvin 1911 and a daughter, Zora Anvilean 1917.
