During the Battle of the Bulge. 1Lt Paul R Ostrom Capt. Wilbur G. Cox, 2Lt Daniel P. Winegar, T/Sgt Ira L. Mooney and T/Sgt Salvatore A Vizi were Killed when their plane crashed. They were recovered in 1949 and buried in a single grave at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery plot #79 0 507 on September 30, 1949. The 6th crewman S/Sgt Charles J. Bohm parachuted from the crippled and flaming B26 into enemy territory and was taken POW until the end of the war in April 1945.
