The only son of Judge Samuel Wright Tyson and Helen Hefley

Served as a Bombardier with the 710th Bomber Squadron, 447th Bomb Group, Heavy. Killed in action over France. Recipient of the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and Purple Heart. From Milam County, Texas, he is memorialized as well at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cameron, Milam County, Texas

447th Bomb Group Mission No. 19 to Noball 78 & 110, France on Feb. 13, 1944. The Kaffun Crew, "B" Group, attacked Noball 78. These were V-1 rocket sites in the Pas de Calais area.
