On October 8, 1927, Johnnie married Carrie A. Akridge, who was born December 21, 1901 in Arkansas, the second of six children born to Virgil Cicero Akridge and Lelia Brown Rolater. Carrie's siblings were: Bessie E., Henry H., Lucille A., Gracie I., and Mildred Nadine.
Johnnie died January 3, 1977 in Holdenville, Oklahoma (Hughes County) and was buried in Lexington Cemetery. Carrie died January 14, 1993 and was buried beside her husband.
